Nations for Peace in Ukraine

NATIONS FOR PEACE Solemn Assembly for Ukraine and Russia
was held on April 21 - 23, 2022 in Prague

As Christians, we believe in God, the Creator of heaven and earth, the Creator of every human being. We believe God is He who raises up nations and that we have a unique responsibility in the current, critical situation in Europe to, in humility, bring before him the war in Ukraine, which threatens not only Europe but the whole world. We model this process upon the Bible scripture in Joel 1:14: Declare a holy fast; call a solemn assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.

As Christians in the International Alliance for Peace and Security, we recently, therefore, convened a three-day solemn assembly called "Nations for Peace" to pray together for peace for Ukraine and Russia. We were personally joined by representatives from Egypt, Germany, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, and the USA as well as representatives of the Czech Republic, Moravia, and the Roma and Silesian peoples. Representatives from Albania, Belarus, Israel, Malta, Germany, Norway, Great Britain, Ukraine and the USA attended the meeting via Zoom. During the night watch, believers from the Czech Republic, China, Hong Kong, Canada, Malta, Germany, Russia, Slovakia and the USA met to pray through the night.

Due to its powerful symbolism, we chose Prague, the former capital of Czechoslovakia, as the meeting place for the solemn assembly. The Czech and Slovak Republics used to be one state. After that, however, without bloodshed, violence or war, they split into two politically independent countries and continue to live in peace as neighbors. What's more, they still work together in most areas of society in a mutually beneficial way. On Thursday and Friday, the gathering took place at the Prague Crossroads, International Spiritual Center, founded by the first Czechoslovak President Václav Havel and his wife Dagmar. We met on Peace Square on Saturday.

On the first day of the meeting, we stood before our heavenly Father, without any agenda or plan. We worshiped Him with songs, prayers and silence, dance and art, and in an atmosphere of loving community in which our precious siblings from Ukraine shared their hearts and experiences.

We anticipated that the root of the current situation in the nations is the orphan spirit, so the next day we met to deal with this area. First we dealt with the orphan spirit each individually, then as God's house, and finally as the nations. At this stage we came before the Lord God, acknowledging where we had succumbed to the spirit of orphan and spirit of slavery, and ceaced walking in the spirit of sonship. We confessed the ways in which we have not lived in relationship with God as sons and daughters who reflect the loving heavenly Father in their lives. After this cleansing of our lives and hearts, we called on God together to end the war and establish peace that would bring security to Ukraine and to all other nations. We prayed that Ukraine and Russia would fulfill their God-given mission and calling.

As Christians, we have a responsibility to fight for nations spiritually, but we realize that the power to bring peace is in the hands of "those of high authority" - namely political leaders. On Saturday we gathered in Prague on Peace Square. Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger joined the assembly through Zoom, as well as several other members of the Slovak parliament and a former member of the Slovak and European parliaments.

We saw the Peace Square as the right place for such a meeting due to its name and the name of the streets that come out of it, each of which is named after a different nation. From this square, the heart of Europe, we spoke the Biblical words of peace and blessing to all nations.

We would like to thank all those of you who joined the solemn assembly for Ukraine and Russia in person or online. We are also profoundly thankful to each of the spiritual and political representatives of the participating nations. Thank you, also, to all coordinators, volunteers and sponsors.

All eyes have been on Ukraine in the past two months. The trajectory of history hangs in the balance and God is looking for hinges - people through whom he can turn the course of history in His direction.

This is not new.

Time and time again, the course of history has been shaped by those who have humbled themselves and sought after God to stop disasters and bring healing and transformation. Today it is our turn. We have the urgent responsibility to engage with God's heart, to hear his voice and to partner with him in the spiritual battle that is taking place among nations, between leaders and across borders.

In early March 2022, as a response to urgent warnings from God given through dreams to members of our global community, the International Alliance for Peace and Security facilitated an online event called "The Peace Train - Global Day of Prayer for Ukraine and Russia". Representatives from over 60 different nations met to pray and intercede for the current war situation. Together we set in motion the Peace Train: many nations united like the cars of a train, praying as one for the peace of God to rule in Ukraine and Russia.

We want to keep the Peace Train moving through our compounding prayer, intercession, worship, and Holy Spirit guided action. That's why we are issuing a call for nations to stand together in a solemn assembly for Ukraine and Russia at a live, three-day event called "Nations for Peace." The assembly is taking place in Prague from sunset on the 21st of April to sunset on the 23rd of April 2022, and will run 24 hours each day.
Does your heart resonate with this call?

Are you ready to rise and embrace the privilege and responsibility of partnering with God to shape history? Will you stand with your international brothers and sisters to prepare our nations as a worthy inheritance for our Lord Jesus, the Prince of Peace?

Now is the time to act in authority and act together, for the sake not just of Ukraine, but of all nations. Join us in the "Nations for Peace" initiative. Together, let's form a living weapon with the power to reverse the current trajectory of war.

You may join the Solemn Assembly in-person in Prague, Czech Republic or join us in the live online broadcast.

Why Prague?

The prophet Isaiah wrote: "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

In this scripture, Isaiah is speaking about spiritual authority. When we have gained victory over hardships, difficulties, or challenging situations, it grants us a position of authority from which we can help others overcome the same or similar things. Jesus has authority over illness because he bore the 39 lashes for all infirmity. In a similar way, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have gained authority to pray for the war on Ukraine because they used to be one nation known as Czechoslovakia, but they separated into two independent nations without bloodshed, violence or war and they continue to live in peace as neighbors, and even more, cooperate economically and politically in a mutually beneficial manner to this day. For this reason we have chosen to host the Solemn Assembly in Prague, Czech Republic. Our prayers and intercession during the Solemn Assembly, therefore, will take place not just from the healed heart of Europe, but from within the familial culture of mutual respect, collaboration and appreciation.
